BIOA provides up to five young collaborative pianists the opportunity to participate in the program in a unique way. Accepted applicants will work daily with vocalists and coaches to develop the piano skills needed to thrive in an operatic environment. Pianists will work closely with our internationally recognized coaches and pianists in the opera field, to develop and hone their accompanying abilities.
This piano intensive is designed to provide pianists with an immersive experience in the operatic collaborative piano world. The specialized craft of accompanying opera requires careful attention to appropriate style, interpretation, diction, and approach.
Pianists will participate in all aspects of the program alongside vocalists and the internationally acclaimed faculty. Not only will pianists receive experience in the teaching and coaching environment through playing daily voice lessons and receiving feedback on their playing, but also the performing aspect of opera where they will perform alongside vocalists at the final concerts. This exceptional experience will benefit any serious pianist who wishes to expand their knowledge of the voice and how to artfully accompany a vocalist in a performance or lesson.
