Sofia Opera Performing Seminars
Sofia Opera Performing Seminars (SOPS) are organized under the auspices of the Bologna International Opera Academy (BIOA) team, led by prof. Guenko Guechev – professor and opera director at the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, USA.
Director of SOPS is Mr. Peter Danailov.
The curriculum of the seminars includes work with distinguished teachers in style and interpretation, work with conductor, Stanislavski and other method acting techniques. There will be panel discussions with renowned professionals in the field of opera (singers, theatre directors, stage directors, conductors) on topics such as stage movement and audition techniques (competitions, house auditions, casting for roles, concert, etc.). We will also talk about the importance of the vocal health, dietary suggestions for a singer, etc.

The host of the sixth edition of the Sofia Opera Performing Seminars (SOPS) is the Bulgarian Engineering and Architecture Society in Sofia. The venue is located in the cultural heart of the city surrounded by the Academy of Theater and Film, the National Drama Theatre, the Symphony Hall, the City Art Gallery, the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, and many coffee shops, restaurants and bars.
SOPS 2024 itinerary
February 28, 2024 – check-in at the hotel.
Each participant will receive an individual daily schedule of activities.
The list will contain the exact time of the lectures, the name of the teacher and the studio where the lecture will take place. Participants will change lecturers on rotational basis, so that each participant can have an individual lecture with each of the three lecturers each day.
March 5, 2024 – 7 p.m.
Aria concert with piano in the concert hall of the Bulgarian Engineering and Architecture Society.
March 7, 2024 – 3 p.m.
Dress rehearsal with orchestra at the concert hall of the Military Club.
March 7, 2024 – 7 p.m.

The number of participants is limited to 12 singers.
The tuition for SOPS’24 is €1,500
Included in this fee are: hotel with breakfast, studios with pianos, orchestra, concert hall rental, pianists and administrative fees.
By January 15, 2024 th applicants must email to: operaseminars@gmail.com links of two arias uploaded into Youtube, or use the application form on the website of the Bologna International Opera Academy.
By January 20, 2024 the applicants will be notified via phone/email about the result of their audition.
Approved applicants for SOPS’24 must register by depositing €300 to the bank account of the Euro Atlantic Art Foundation by 31.01.2024.
This security deposit is non-refundable.
